----------------------------------------------------

Simon Bowen has a background of working in the media industry, having spent over ten years as variously a manager, developer, engineer and instructor of internet, audio, video and photographic technologies. A desire to engage in the innovative application of new technologies in general led to a return to education in 2003, where he completed an MA in Industrial Design at Sheffield Hallam University and was subsequently employed as a research assistant. Having successfully obtained funding Simon is now continuing the work begun in his MA via doctoral research. Alongside and within his PhD research Simon works with colleagues at Sheffield Hallam's Art & Design Research Centre on shared research interests of innovation, human-centred design and the roles of designing and making in research.
